| We went to get pictures taken yesterday of the children. Despite two very active kids, we got some good shots, and after a nap and a good night's rest, I have recovered from the stress of the adventure. Audrey turned a year in August and Josh in September, so we finally went in to mark the occasion. Audrey started walking in early September and continues to be on the move constantly. She and Josh like to play together, but usually end up wanting the same thing which results in one of them crying, usually Audrey. So, my days are spent chasing the two of them around.

| Here are some pictures since we moved. I have finally figured out the new camera and how to get them on the computer. This is from when we went hiking at humpback rock where I sprained my ankle. Josh was such a big boy to hike all that way!!
Well, most of the way.
We got someone to take our picture up at the top.
Karl built a big sandbox for Josh in the backyard.

Audrey seems to be happy with her new surroundings. She is clapping, pulling up on things, says mama and dada, and is trying so hard to crawl on all fours.
Mother's Day with my babies
It has been in the high 90's the last several days, so we pulled out the pool for the kids. It has been a lot of fun already. Audrey and Josh love it! The neighbors and school children, and the mailman enjoy watching Josh play.

My dream come true is a piano that I bought for $350! It sounds great and I have wanted one since I moved away from home. The children like it also.
Have a great weekend! | | |
| We successfully moved to our new house in Lynchburg 3 weeks ago. We have had some drama since we moved, and some of the boxes are still sitting around, but mostly in the basement. Two days and one sleepless night after we moved Audrey had a double ear infection, and Josh and I came down with colds. So we spent a lot of time holding the baby the first few days of being here. Then we celebrated birthdays by going hiking at Humpback rock, and I sprained my ankle last Monday. The doctor says I popped a ligament off the bone, and chipped the tip of the bone off. OUCH! I have been hobbling around since then. I am supposed to stay off of it as much as possible for 2 weeks, and wear a brace for 6 weeks. So, the children and I have been fairly homebound. Josh is having a hard time being home all day, every day, but I hope to get out a little more this week. But on the brighter side, we had a great day hiking with the kids. I couldn't believe how well Josh did hiking. He made it most of the way up and almost the whole way back by himself. We put Audrey in the backpack, and she happily rode on daddy's back the whole time. Part of the way Karl put Josh on his shoulders while Audrey was in the backpack!!! I have pictures, but I can't find the cable for the camera. I'll probably find that in the very last box I open after my ankle heals, so don't expect pictures for another 6 weeks. We had a lovely Mother's day despite the rain, cold, and wind. We made it to church, and Josh gave me a carnation that he was given in Sunday school. My first flowers from my son on Mother's Day. Karl made me a yummy breakfast with muffins, and we went to visit Karl's grandma and aunt and uncle. We got to have some fresh strawberries! YUM! I am bummed that I can't go pick any right now. Maybe in two weeks, or maybe I can convince Karl to go??? We have met several of the neighbors near our house. To the right of us live a sweet couple. They are 85 years old, but are very active. They walk in the neighborhood every morning, mow their grass, plant flowers, and brought us fresh bread and homemade jam when we moved in. Josh runs over to greet them whenever they drive in the driveway. He asks to visit them throughout the day, but we only go over when they are outside. I am thankful for friendly neighbors who are excited about having a young family next door. The neighbors on the other side of us are also older, but spend lots of time outside as well. Most of the people close to us are retired, therefore home most of the time. Before I sprained my ankle we spent most of our time doing yard work and playing outside, going for walks on the sidewalks, and going to the playground at the school across the street. I am counting the days till we can do those things again. I enjoy getting to know the neighbors. Well, I hope everyone has a great week!!! | | |
| Things have been fairly lively at the Miller household. Karl got me a new digital camera to keep at home, but I haven't hooked it up the computer yet. I'll have to post pictures later... again. Karl was gone 3 days this week to Boston for a real estate conference. We missed him very much. Josh is potty training, and is quite proud of himself. He decided on Wednesday while Karl was out of town to flush most of the roll of toilet paper down the toilet, causing the water to overflow!! I had to borrow a plunger from Elsie (I bought one at the store today). Josh was quite upset about the whole thing, and I don't think he'll do that again. He started crying when it overflowed and he was upset most of the evening. We are moving to Lynchburg this Saturday. Packing will be our project this week. If anyone wants to help, let us know! We bought a house on the northern end of town. We can post before and after pictures later. We painted the whole house and put carpet downstairs. We'll be city folk again!! We are really looking forward to being closer to work, church, and friends, but will miss the folks in Gladys, too!!!! Well, I think Josh just woke up from his nap, better go. Have a great weekend. | Today was a gorgeous day in Virginia!! It was 74 degrees this afternoon. I spent the morning in the yard with Josh. He threw his baseball around the yard, laid in the grass, pulled weeds from the garden, and we even took his little car (the kind that his feet make it move) down the driveway. It was so cute to see him driving down the lane waving out the back. Then he would go off the side of the driveway onto the grass and I (the tow truck) would pull him back up so he could do it again. He also likes to wave to people as they drive by. One log truck honked, and a man on a tractor waved back. After lunch Audrey came out with us. I put a blanket on the deck, which she kept rolling off, and we sat in the sunshine. Josh had a small cup of water which he called his coffee that he was drinking in his car. Then we got me a cup of water and we drank "coffee" together. Then we decided to wash his toes, and he was very wet by the time we had to go inside. After naps he went back out and played on the deck most of the afternoon. We had the front door wide open all day. After supper we took the double stroller down to Elsie's house. She helped Jon and Kat build a fence at our new house in Lynchburg all afternoon!!! As soon as we got there, Audrey had a major blowout diaper, and I didn't have any diapers, so I had to run back and get the diaper bag. When I got back Elsie was giving Audrey a bath for me! Thanks Elsie! Then Josh pulled his diaper off and wet his pants. He got to only wear a diaper till we got home and he took a bath. Kids are never boring! It was a fun, exhausting day, but one I hope to remember for a long time. I wish I had some pictures. I ended the day by reading lots of stories with Josh, then after he was sleeping walked out the mailbox and saw a beautiful sunset. I was looking at my little ones and feeling very blessed today. I hope everyone else enjoyed the sunshine as well today. ~Alys | | |
